Finding Peace Within

Hey, Hi, Hello!! How are you!?

This newsletter is a little late, but I’m back! One week and a day ago, here in Central Florida we met Hurricane Ian and boy did he make his presence known! On Instagram I updated throughout the storm and a few days after as my family recovered and adjusted to not having power for a few days. We were extremely blessed that loss of power and spoiled food from our refrigerator was the worst of our experience with Hurricane Ian. Many other people were not as fortunate, even within in our County and ESPECIALLY those in the Southwest part of Florida, including some close friends of mine.

There were two big lessons/reminders I learned from our experience with Hurricane Ian. First, that DAILY we should count our blessings, name them one by one. Two, peace can exist within, even when you’re surrounded by chaos. In order to endure and preserve through hardships it requires a shift in perspective and focus. And I’m not talking about the “toxic positivity” of ignoring the reality of how challenging life can be. I’m talking about understanding reality, but still putting your faith, hope and sights on the things that lift our spirits and help us to continue on our journey.

During the storm when the scary sounds of the wind, rain, and unknown objects tapped our windows I had to lean into my faith in God. Using the flashlight on my phone walking from room to room praying and singing worship songs helped to calm me. It gave me a sense of control I didn’t feel I had with the storm outside. There have been many times when my faith in God really helped me through some very challenging and dark seasons in my life. When I reach the end of myself, I am often reminded that at the end of the day I don’t have to figure it all out on my own. There is someone greater than me who can miraculously take every negative situation and use it as an opportunity. These are opportunities to help me heal, grow, thrive, and succeed in life. That is the type of peace that can exist within even when you feel like the world is falling apart all around you. I hope you get to experience or have experienced that type of peace.

Speaking of Peace…

I have been feeling a peaceful shift on the horizon for DeKelis Art Studio. On social media (Instagram and Facebook), you may have noticed it already in the past few weeks, or even the last couple of months. It’s been a natural progression that I’ve finally decided to stop fighting or try to make logical sense of. In the weeks to come, I’ll update you on what to expect from DeKelis Art. But in the meantime, enjoy this Fall Sale for the month of October! 20% OFF any order of $10 or more, including original paintings, apparel, and stationery. Use code FALL20 at checkout. This discount can also be used on current sale items. I don’t know if or when I’ll do another sale like this, so be sure to take advantage of it while it’s here.
