The DeKelis Story {Deh-Keh-Lease}

Hi, Hey, Hello! I’m Desiraé, a lifelong creative…

… who took a slight detour to become a Mental Health Therapist and Health Care Case Manager.

After several years of working in some of the most heart-pulling and challenging positions, plus the juggle of being a first-time mom, I suffered from chronic burnout, depression, anxiety, and fear that I was on the edge of a mental breakdown!

At the end of December 2017, I stepped away from my career, to begin the journey to restore my mental health while diving deeper into my fun and creative side.

On January 1, 2018, I began my journey as a full-time, stay-at-home mompreneur while growing my (now-retired) mom lifestyle blog “Sincerely, Mrs. Mommy” and this DeKelis Art Studio business.

Over the last several years, I have developed as an artist, writer, and online content creator. However, more importantly, my mental health has been restored, my faith is bolder than ever, and my confidence in who I am has expanded. I am now more sure of the many beautiful ways God sees me and the gifts He’s given me to share with the world.

Everything I’ve been through and learned has brought me to where I am today, and God is using it all for the greater good!

My current mission is to create colorful art, lifestyle products, and Christian resources that infuse a message of faith, hope, and confidence that will inspire women from the inside out. I want to use these tools to help fellow women grow in their faith and affirm their identity in God. We're all unique and individual; we deserve to know and accept who God designed us to be.

Fun Facts:

• DeKelis (pronounced Deh-Keh-Lease) combines my first and middle name. Desirae means longed for/desired. My mom created Kelisha after being inspired by Kelita, a Levite in the Bible who helped the Priest Ezra translate and share the Word of God.

• I’m a wife of one husband and a mother of two boys.

• I grew up in Miami, but my parents are from Jamaica and Antigua.

• I love sparkling water with fresh lemon juice, afternoon naps, strolling through lush gardens, watching small business studio vlogs on YouTube, and time-period dramas.

• I am drawn like a magnet to bold designs with vibrant color, texture, geometric patterns, and inspirational messaging.
