Inspirational Women of February a New Art Print Collection!
And just like that, we're a week into February with January staring at us in the rear-view mirror. It may or may not have been a wild ride of a year for you, but either way, I have something new and exciting to encourage you moving forward into this month!
I've been itching to paint something new for several weeks. I could give you a laundry list of things that made that difficult, but instead, I'll show you what I was able to create. And if I'm honest, it's an idea I've been toying with on and off for a couple of years; I just wasn't sure how to pull it together until now. It is a beautiful fusion of art, bold graphic design, encouragement, and faith.
Introducing my very first digital collage art series!
"Redeemed and Crowned" - Psalm 103:4
"Wonderfully Made" - Psalm 139:14
"Strong and Courageous" - Deuteronomy 31:6
"Pure Heart" - Psalm 51:10
"Strength and Honour" - Proverbs 31:10
Each Collage piece is motivated by the DeKelis mission to combine art and faith to inspire women from the inside out. I also felt it was essential to incorporate actual Bible verses instead of coming up with catchy phrases. I wholeheartedly believe the most life-changing, soul-piercing, honest, and timeless inspiration comes from the Word of God.
Also, in celebration of Black History Month, I chose images of brown women in different shades, moods, and poses to help anchor the overall composition and message of the artwork.
What Does My Mom Think of the Collection?
When I showed my mom the test art prints, she said that even though "Wonderfully Made" had one of her favorite scriptures, the [stance of the woman] in "Strong and Courageous" made it clear what the message was; "you don't have to stare at it long to get the idea of what it means". Her other favorite is "Strength and Honour." My mom said seeing the lady's cheeks [peeking out from behind the flowers] reminded her of herself. I agree with both of her observations.
“Redeemed and Crowned” is a personal favorite. I feel it serves as a great reminder that no matter what rock-bottom pit I find myself in, God is more than able and willing to pull me out of it at the right moment and for a greater purpose, with love and compassion.
