The Best is Yet to Come!
I don’t know about you, but August was filled with one valuable life lesson and reminder after another.
Celebrating my son’s 6th birthday this month felt like a momentous accomplishment… for me! I couldn’t help but feel immensely blessed and in awe of how far I’ve come in my mental, physical, and spiritual health since the year he was born.
In many ways this year has felt like a repeat of 2018 - arguably one of the most definitive years of my life.
It was the year that the perfect storm brewed to challenge my faith in myself and God in more ways than I can share in this newsletter.
It was a complex blend of transition, challenges, loss, gains, grief, provision, and supernatural favor. But through it all, just like this year, God covered me and my family. If it wasn’t for the strategic and easily overlooked ways, He helped us navigate that year - I have no idea where I would be… or frankly, if I’d even be here writing this newsletter to you today.
One thing that’s different this year (especially this summer) is that I have been more aware of the ways that God works in my life. It didn’t take me a few years to realize that He has been with me through every turn, setback, and comeback. God has been working things out for me in ways I never expected or imagined (Ephesians 3:20).
Sometimes His yes to a prayer wasn’t the yes, I expected - but it worked. I continued to feel compelled to give God “permission” to work outside the box, the way He saw best for me. I continue to grow by leaps and bounds, despite the challenges I face.
August taught me God cares not only about the big needs in my life, but the small needs too.
He cares about the desires of my heart and surprises me with them - if they are good for me. Not because I deserve them or earned them, but simply because He loves me and wants to see me experience His abundance (Philippians 4:19). It’s very similar to the way a parent would give their child a bonus, just because they want to and can.
I also learned that not only CAN God heal me, mentally, physically, and spiritually - but He WANTS to (Matthew 8:2-3). Yet once again, I need to be open to the way He does that and trust that He is intentional and does everything with purpose for my good.
“Alright, Desiraé that’s good for you but I don’t see that for me…”
If you’re in a challenging season, I know that reading all of this may seem very far-fetched, impossible, or a cruel joke. You may feel like your back is against the wall, drowning in the deep end, or at the end of yourself with little to no hope left. I promise you, even though I don’t know your exact situation - I do know what it feels like to be in that frame of mind. I’ve been there more times than I’d like to admit. However, I leave you with this encouragement - Give God a try. And if you tried in the past and felt like He was no help - try again.
Specifically, ask God to -
Let me see the ways You are working and moving in my life.
Let me feel Your presence in a way I never have before, so I know that you’re real.
Let me hear Your voice guiding me on what to do next.
Warm and soften my heart if it’s too cold and hard to experience You.
Come into my heart and take control of my life in a way that I know without a doubt that it’s You.
Show me a sign that can’t be mistaken for coincidence.
God reveal yourself to me in a way that I will have absolutely no doubt that you care about me and love me right where I am.
I come into agreement with every promise and good thing You have planned for me.
God let Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10)
You don’t have to be perfect (no one is) and you don’t have to talk to God exactly the way I wrote it above. Your conversation with God is meant to be a personal intimate connection - inviting Him to be present in your life in a tangible way. Then give Him some time to answer you, to show you, to let you experience what you’re asking Him for.
If there is anything that I can help you pray for, or encourage you further, please don’t hesitate to hit the “Connect with Desiraé” button below, and let’s chat.
Life is not perfect for me.
There are still some big things I’m praying and believing in God for. There are still some hard things I’m living through. Fortunately, I have so many testimonies from my past and present that I am confident God is going to come through for me AND you.
If your confidence and faith tank is low, I can share some of mine with you. Be encouraged, God has you covered. Each day declare with your mouth from your heart that “The Best is Yet to Come!”
